You are always hoping that movie audiences are interested in characters and interested in story values rather than just mindless special effects. But you never know.
Clint EastwoodIn Paris when the picture came out [Casablanca] they weren't too pleased with it. They didn't like the political point of view. The picture was taken off immediately and was never sold to television. A while ago it was brought in and opened in five theatres in Paris as a new movie. They had a big gala opening where I appeared and people were absolutely crazy about it.
Ingrid BergmanNight was a wonderful time in Brooklyn in the 1930s. Air conditioning was unknown except in movie houses and so was television. There was nothing to keep one in the house. Furthermore few people owned automobiles so there was nothing to carry one away. That left the streets and the stoops. The very fullness served as an inhibition to crime.
Isaac AsimovWe movie stars all end up by ourselves. Who knows? Maybe we want to.
Bette DavisMovies always are open to being remade because times change so much and the tempo of movies changes. I think of it like a James Bond. They can have different actors play the same role... I've had people come up to me and say 'We want to remake 'The Jerk' with so and so.' And I say 'Fine.' It just doesn't bother me. It's an honor actually.
Steve MartinBecoming emancipated at 14 my life wasn't normal. I didn't have to go to school so I didn't. I was rebellious by nature. I spent my 20s focusing on my company Flower Films and producing movies. Now that I'm almost 30 I would like to try other things in lie. I'm crazy about photography and I want to take an art history class.
Drew BarrymoreThe only reason anyone goes to Broadway is because they can't get work in the movies.
Bette DavisI'm not a real movie star. I've still got the same wife I started out with twenty-eight years ago.
Will RogersEvery time I've made a movie over the years . . . there was a lot of confusion between who I am and who the character in the movie is. In this picture there was no way anybody could make that association. The lead character (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is this gorgeous troubled highly sensitive character. There was no way anyone could confuse me with anyone in the picture.
Woody AllenI remember being on film sets when I was younger and only men got to do the cool action movies. So I thought 'Maybe I'll get to produce one day and get to do cool stuff too ' which is what happened when we did 'Charlie's Angels.' Starting my production company was a big turning point for me.
Drew BarrymoreI love doing normal things - movies shopping going out with friends writing reading taking hot bubble baths - that's a big one for relaxation. I also love to go to art and history museums.
Christina AguileraKarate is a form of martial arts in which people who have had years and years of training can using only their hands and feet make some of the worst movies in the history of the world.
Dave BarryMinimalism seems closest to the sophisticated storytelling of movies. Movies have really educated contemporary audiences to be the most intelligent sophisticated audiences in history. We don't any longer need to have the relationship between one scene and the next explained. We will figure it out ourselves.
Chuck PalahniukThere's a tremendous difference between alone and lonely. You could be lonely in a group of people. I like being alone. I like eating by myself. I go home at night and just watch a movie or hang out with my dog. I have to exert myself and really say oh God I've got to see my friends 'cause I'm too content being by myself.
